Shelving tough to fill

Just installed, so no firm performance metrics yet. However, the shelves need a front lip to hold good in and some clip- on deviders would help to stack the frozen foods. A pull out bottom drawer would be better design.

Chosen for the Temperature Alarm

My last freezer went bad on me, and I lost food. Even though I wasn't home at the time, I figured a temperature alarm would be a nice feature to have.I wanted the larger model of this one, but the website didn't show that it had an alarm. The only thing I don't like about it is the very bottom section. I wish it was a pull out drawer instead of just a plastic piece to hold items in.

Purchased from a discount store at a very reasonable price. Plugged it in after leveling and voila!, a cold deep freeze. The finger touch thermostat adjustment is great as well as being able to select, "Quick Freeze" which holds it at a much cooler temperature for 24 hours then reverts to normal cooling. The lamp for lighting is wonderful. So far so good. It also runs very quiet.

WZF56R16DW04 16 Cu Ft Upright Freezer.

I purchased this freezer approximately 1 month ago. On the positive side, it's still working. I have had several issues where the door did not seal when I closed it. It does not create the vacuum seal, like most freezers when you've had the door open and the cold air escapes. Fortunately, I caught it in time before the food was ruined and I now try to make sure I push on the door after I've closed it. The alarm is a joke, my coffee pot, microwave, and toaster oven all ding louder than this freezer alarm. I replaced a 14 cu ft. freezer with this one, yet it doesn't hold as much food. The fact that they don't provide you with at least one extra shelf really irritates me. Especially because they want $40 for the lower shelf, with shipping just over $50 and $77 for the upper shelf with shipping $95. I don't think so! I went to my local DIY store and bought a closet shelf for $7 and had them cut it to the width I needed. They only come in 12" and 16" depth but the 12" works fine. I got 2 shelves out of it, although I'm only using 1. This is not unique to Whirlpool. Kenmore and Frigidaire also overcharge on their accessories. I have not owned it long enough to comment on reliability. I read many reviews that complained the freezer quit working within a couple of months or just after the warranty period. I have several other Whirlpool appliances that have not given me any problems. I pray my freezer is not the exception.

We live in a 2 bedroom apartment, and the little freezer that is part of the fridge simply wasn't enough space. We LOVE the addition of a stand freezer so that we can actually buy in bulk and have a place big enough to keep a normal size freezer pizza. Super quiet and efficient.

Small, but good looking

Compared to our old freezer (that lasted 28 years), it is a bit small. States it is the same size, but it doesn't hold as much as the other. It is a bit noisy to be such a newer model. But we are hopeful, maybe looking to at least get 15 years out of it.

Whirlpool Freezer

This was a replacement for a 25 year old Whirlpool Freezer, Like the inside. The electric cord was on the opposite side of plug, had to get extension cord. the old freezer had longer cord.

Do not buy Whirlpool

Absolutely awful customer service. They are the designated service company for my Whirlpool upright freezer under extended warranty. Not only do you constantly get a busy signal on their 866-336-9068 main number, but they do not pick up the 732 451-4260 local number and the voicemail box is always full so no messages can be left. The freezer stopped working on Sept. 25th and it is now Oct. 16th. Still not working because the Alliance service technician who came to diagnose what was wrong ordered the completely wrong part. Service technician #2 took over a week to get back to us, and said we can't fix it because we don't have the right part. This is a 3-ring circus. Save yourself a major headache and look elsewhere. This is the SECOND burnt out motor on this unit which is only 5 years old.
