Awful documentation

Stopped working after 2 months. Researched the internet and provided documentation, Found NOTHING related to the problem or the red "cooling" message displayed on the control panel. Repairman arrived (after losing all our food) only to push two buttons to fix it. THIS FIX IS NOT DISCUSSED ANYWHERE. Unacceptable.

I purchased a Whirlpool because I wanted to buy an American made appliance. The design and color are great.....Unfortunately that's about it. The fit and finish on this fridge is terrible. I had to take a black Sharpie marker and color in all the yellow foam coming from the door seams and smeared on the black rubber door seal to make it look like it should have from the factory. There are also abstract shapes that press through the back wall of the fridge. "looks terrible, but food being in there hides them". And now after about a month of owning it we notice that things placed in the back of the fridge freeze, and it has started making annoying loud noises when it runs. I can understand the noise from the ice maker since it is right up front on this model, but the compressor shouldn't sound like an old Volkswagen diesel. A friend who works locally at Whirlpool, warned me about the quality and told me to get the higher priced KitchenAid, but I said I shouldn't have to pay over $3k to get a basic refrigerator that doesn't sound worse than the the 16 old Frigidaire it was replacing. "Guess I was wrong".

We've only had the refrigerator for about a month and a half, so far it has worked out well. I do like the measured water fill feature on the door, that has really helped. I wish the water filter was a little better quality, the water still smells funny.

I have had two previous Whirlpool GOLD refrigerators and they were quality fantastic appliances. My new Whirlpool 28.4 cu.ft. refrigerator is completely inferior to my Whirlpool GOLD refrigerators and the front wheels will not roll because they are mangled. I had to install 4 - 7/8" high aftermarket wheels to solve the problem. I still have not given up on repairing my 25 year old Whirlpool GOLD and keeping it behind my wet bar. My review is based on a comparison to my Whirlpool GOLD refrigerators.

We've had the refrigerator for a month now and am very happy with it. We wanted a side by side to replace the 17 year old one that started malfunctioning and worried it wouldn't make it to 2020. Fortunately this was in stock and delivered the next day, and we didn't have sticker shock! Everyone is getting the freezer drawer style with refrig on top, but I don't want to bend down for lost bags of frozen blueberries. I can easily see what's back there on the shelves. You can't beat the look of the black stainless! Fingerprints and smudges wipe off with no problem. It runs quietly, with no loud compressor noise. Doors glide open and closed. The ice maker is on the freezer door, so the bin is easy to reach if you don't want to use the ice dispenser. There is actually a lot of room in both refrigerator and freezer. Good inside illumination. My main criticism is that the refrigerator shelves are not adjustable. You can take them out for easy cleaning, but they don't adjust. The shelves are good quality. Happy with this Whirlpool purchase!

Not happy with this fridge!

We bought this fridge 2 years ago, within the first six months it stopped making ice. We had it repaired under warranty. Now a year and a half later the ice maker has stopped working again! We replaced the ice maker and it is still not making ice. We have had 2 different repair companies refuse to come out to work on it as there are so many known issues that they will not work on this model. So now we are stuck with a $1900.00 that makes no ice. Thanks Whirlpool, we will not be buying your brand again.

This is the perfect size for a large family. It is laid out really well, making everything accessible. The ice maker is in the door, allowing more usable shelving space. I do wish it had come with a butter shelf, but we were able to order one that fits on line.

We built a new house and paid extra to have a Whirlpool refrigerator. Once it was installed it made this humming noise. Called Whirlpool and had them come out to look at it. The service tech said that is second stage compressor and you'll have to live with that noise. 3 months after the 1 year warranty ran out the ice dispenser stopped working. I tried replacing the drive motor but that didn't fix it. Must be the $300 control board. Summary Whirlpool and this refrigerator get great reviews, but the quality of the product in not worth it.

Even though the refrigerator fits in the same space that our old refrigerator did, the interior of both sides seems larger. The drawers seem to hold more and roll in and out very smoothly. On the negative side, we were disappointed in the manufacturing quality. The handles of the doors of our first Whirlpool that was delivered could not be aligned properly and the freezer door scraped the side when it was opened or closed. The dealer ordered a replacement and when it was delivered, a plate on the exterior bottom could not be aligned. A replacement was ordered and it too was not perfect. Despite these manufacturing quality issues, we still love the refrigerator.

There is no comparison between my new fridge and the one that I previously had. The Whirlpool if far more user friendly that the Samsung French Door. It is easy to find items in the Whirlpool and there are plenty of shelves, bins, and drawers. The produce drawers are nice and cool, therefore my fresh produce and veggies are lasting a lot longer!

Bought this to replace old unit. This refrigerator has more c.f. and is perfect fit for space. Many great features including easy filter change, taller ice and water dispenser, energy efficient, automatic ice maker in door (don't have to turn off and on all the time), plenty of shelf space and drawers. Only complaint would be shelves are not adjustable. Love the color. Overall feel this was a good appliance at a good price.

Good size, easy to organize. Some occasional questionable loud noises from the ice machine. Curious that there is no top butter enclosure on the top of the door as is standard to most fridges. This refrigerator had larger capacity than the old one and was perfect size for my space. Only negative was shelves not adjustable but can get used to that. Ice maker has stopped working

After trying a Samsung refrigerator with lots of bells and whistles, including an icemaker that never worked, we decided to simplify our life going back to a side-by-side (no French drawer) refrigerator. Whirlpool has always been a great brand, and they had just what we were looking for!! Simple, elegant, only the features we wanted, and the icemaker is located in the freezer section (where it should be) with a simple water and ice dispenser. This is the perfect refrigerator for us--plenty of room, better organization in the freezer section, stainless steel in a great new color. We also recently purchased a Whirlpool washer and dryer that we are very happy with. Whirlpool is our NEW Brand!!

We bought this as a floor model. Saw it in Lowe's - right color, side by side, water and ice in the door - it had everything we required for our next fridge. We really like it - it has a lot more room than our last fridge and perfectly fit in the same place. The digital stuff on the door takes a little getting used to and we have had to consult the manual a few times but we'll figure it out over time.

Very disappointed!

It took 2 months to get it delivered, and when I finally got it, we were extremely disappointed in the workmanship. The front refrigerator door was dented, the back also, inside of the fridge door at the top the plastic capping was misaligned and glue sticking out of it, and inside of freezer, one of the shelves had the plastic chipped. I sent my complaint to "caresource@whirlpool". We have a stove and washer and dryer by Whirlpool and have never had any complaints until now. Completely disappointed with manufacturing standards on this appliance.

Buyer Be Ware!

We thoroughly enjoyed this refrigerator for the first 18 months. Now that the factory warranty is up it quits keeping the food cold. Factory warranty is only good for 12 months. I didn't realize what happened at first when the milk spoiled pretty quick until it happened again. Then I realized it was only cooling to 60 degrees. I will not buy whirlpool brand again. Glad I kept my 15 year old refrigerator that is still working just fine. Good thing I have a home warranty.

I got this about a month ago and I am very happy with it, I have to take the time to learn how to program the dispensers but that is my fault for not doing it yet. Since the ice maker is in the door its a little noisy but no big deal to me

Terrible Ice Maker

I've had this fridge for about 6 months. A month ago the ice maker went from producing a sufficient amount of ice to taking days to fill up the bin. The bin is generally pretty small to begin with, and the slowing of the ice making is annoying. Also, the brackets for an egg tray, but no egg tray, is dumb. It looks nice though......

Exceeded my expectations. Three storage drawers. Shelving and door racks have numerous adjustments. Door racks large and very useful. Love the ice maker set up. Both refrigeration and freezer compartments have plenty of room.

Nice unit but I'm missing the butter shelf.

We've had this refrigerator in the fingerprint resistant black for a couple months. I don't find it any less fingerprint resistant than a regular stainless steel. It's also more slate than black. I'm very disappointed in that. The unit is roomy and keeps food cold and frozen. The door on the refrigerator side has brackets for a butter shelf but no butter shelf is available and the other shelves don't fit in there. It's annoying.

I bought this a month ago, what sets this fridge apart is I love the ice maker on the side of the door. It allows for an extra shelf of freezer space. Also the ice maker is always full. The water/ice dispenser is a little more high tech than a basic one. It has auto dispense for water which is pretty cool. I'm glad we choose this fridge over another 2 that we were considering.
