Low Profile microwave fits well under cabinet above stove. However, the timer sound is soo low you can't hear it when preparing other food in the kitchen; I find this to be a problem.

Beware of sharp metal corner!

We purchased this microwave to replace a large, clunky one. It is mounted under cabinet, above our stove. Soon after installing the microwave I discovered a design flaw. The microwave has a sharp metal piece on the lower corner inside the door. Unfortunately the corner is located at the same height of my face. I opened the microwave to take a peek in and when closing the door scraped my cheek with the corner. I received a fair sized cut from the door. Unfortunately I got a second cut from the door when I was placing something in the microwave and turned my head to respond to a question, once again catching the sharp piece on my face and getting another cut. The obvious is to keep my face away from the opened door. I'm trying to get in the habit of keeping my hand on the door with my thumb covering the metal piece. I hope this design flaw is corrected before the next model is manufactured. I also hope Whirlpool engineers can come up with a retro-fitted solution to this issue that I could put on my microwave.

I had to replace my over the range microwave and needed to meet the specifications. It was an adjustment because it is smaller the meet the height requirement over the range. Once it was installed it is beautiful and works much better than the one I had to replace.

Bought the slim profile over the range microwave/hood to replace countertop microwave. It has a great look, but sound alerts are too soft. Another thing that is irritating is when , just trying to wipe off or clean exterior, door opens, light comes on, and fan turns on.Just a little too sensitive!

We chose this model because it allowed more space above the cook top in our existing cabinets. It is however 2 to 3 inches deeper from the wall than most models making it difficult to reach the cabinets above. After two months of use it is now making a metallic noise when running. Additionally we have not learned to use the settings in order to prevent overcooking numerous dishes. Many things become scorched or toughened at the edge.

Bought this a couple of months ago to replace the existing Whirlpool full-size that was installed when the house was built. in '08 (which was perfectly fine). I needed more clearance over my stovetop as I cook a lot. The limited clearance with regular micro-hoods is terrible. Also, I wanted a really good exhaust fan for pulling the heat off the cooktop. This one is 400 CFM. It looks great. Works great. Friends have commented on it and actually point at it before they go check it out. Will fit a 9x13 and also a 4-cup measuring pitcher. Unless you need a microwave to cook a 20 pound turkey, only buy this one. Also: I was so thankful that installation was easy. The template is actually engraved on the metal bracket! Whoever came up with that idea at Whirlpool, give that employee a raise. I needed a drill, 3 bits, and a stud finder. And I chose black stainless. Love it. Honestly, now I keep looking at the dishwasher and I'm thinking it's getting the Whirlpool Black Stainless treatment next!

Nice answer to an issue

I needed to replace my GE electric range. I went to the store and was looking at stoves when I noticed this microwave on display. I really didn't need to replace thee one I have but with how short this is it would answer a issue of not having enough room from the cook top to the bottom of the microwave. I purchased both a whirlpool electric range and microwave in the black stainless. Wow, when I got them both installed, impressive. no finger prints and it looks sharp. works really well, and a sleek look because the number buttons are hidden behind the door. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I whished that it hugged the wall a little closer. This microwave was designed to replace a standard vent hood. One side of mine is exposed so you can see the approximately 1/2 inch gap between the microwave and wall.

Love the low profile!

Love our microwave so far. The low profile was perfect for our application. Easy to install and very simple functionality. We are still trying to figure out the popcorn setting as it doesn't seem to pop the bag fully like our old microwave used to.

Sleek and Functional

We have remodeled our kitchen and added this microwave hoping for an attractive yet functional unit. What a pleasant surprise this purchase has been. It is only 10" high but you would not know it. The interior has been plenty large enough to cook anything we want. The LED lights are great when cooking and the fan is very functional on the low setting. We are very pleased with the way it looks and performs.
