Hi Kayla
11:46 AM
Kayla
I hate to hear you are encountering an issue with your microwave needing a repair. Do you have the serial number of the appliance? You have provided the model number twice.
11:46 AM
Paul J
Yeah, I have been trying to live with it for the past few months, but now the problem is more frequent. Let me get the number.
Model: WMH78019HZ Serial # : WMH78019HZ
11:48 AM
Kayla
Yes, you have provided the same number.
May I have the serial number please?
11:48 AM
Paul J
That's the number I have, on the sticker of the Microwave.
11:49 AM
Kayla
Yes, that is the model number. There will be a model and a serial number.
11:50 AM
Paul J
I don't have it now..
11:53 AM
Kayla
We would need the serial number of the microwave to determine warranty.
11:54 AM
Paul J
ok
Give me a minute, let me find it out from the Technician's mail
11:55 AM

11:57 AM
Kayla
Thank you.
This unit comes with a one year warranty from the date of purchase.
11:59 AM
Paul J
ok, but I thought Whirlpool appliance are reliable and didn't expect a problem with a door in 18 months!
12:00 PM
Kayla
Whirlpool is indeed a top appliance manufacturer, however, your appliance is man made and as with any man-made appliance, they are susceptible to failure.
12:00 PM
Paul J
and that too I have already spent $109 to get a technician and now the total invoice amount to replace is $626
Man made? I don't understand.
12:02 PM
Kayla
Appliances are man made.
12:02 PM
Paul J
I understand failure, but you're saying I shouldn't trust Whirlpool anymore, since they are man-made?
12:03 PM
Kayla
No, I am stating all appliances are man made, therefore, failures can occur.
12:03 PM
Paul J
I have other whirlpool appliances that I have had it for years!
But what can whirlpool do to make this right?
12:04 PM
Kayla
The appliance is no longer under a warranty for assistance to be offered. Did you purchase an extended warranty?
12:04 PM
Paul J
I bought Whirlpool, because I trusted the brand and didn't expect to have a problem for years!
12:05 PM
Kayla
I certainly understand your frustration.
12:05 PM
Paul J
And to have a problem of this size and cost in less than 2 years, that's not the Whirlpool brand I expected!
12:06 PM
Kayla
I can document your complaint.
12:06 PM
Paul J
Is there anyone I can talk to find out what can be done to cover the cost?
12:07 PM
Kayla
Again, the appliance is no longer under a warranty for the cost of service to be covered. The appliance comes with a one year warranty, after the warranty expires if the customer does not purchase an extended warranty to ensure coverage, they would be responsible for any services.
12:08 PM
Paul J
Well, I never expected this response from Whirlpool. Truly disappointed, if this happened even after a year I would not have felt this disappointed. Looks like this will be my last Whirlpool appliance! Thanks for looking into it!
12:09 PM
Kayla
You are welcome. Thank you for contacting Whirlpool. Have a great day.
