In Love with my 30 in Gas Cooktop!

I purchased this product for myself as a birthday gift. I am a true lover of eating out at fine restaurants, but now I am true lover of eating at home. I have fallen in love with cooking and preparing fine meals thanks to my new Whirlpool Cooktop. My old cooktop was extremely old and outdated, but it was still working and guess what? It was a whirlpool as well. Whirlpool still doesn't disappoint even after all of these years. It has a self ignite which is very safe for you won't need a lighter to light your stove. Thank you Whirlpool for making my birthday special and my life so much easier.

Looks are not everything. Soils easily during cooking and difficult to clean. Have to remove cast iron grates to clean. Surface scratches easily when using a stainless cleaner. Surface needs to be cleaned almost daily to keep looking good

The new cooktop provides focused and precise burner control and efficient heating. The location of the two main burners at the rear puts the biggest smoke and fume foods beneath the microwave exhaust fan above. The SS surface below the burners must be carefully cleaned to avoid scratching. Since the burner caps can easily be knocked off the burners during cleaning resulting in scratches in the stainless steel, it is necessary to remove them whenever cleaning. Tough to maintain the original out of the box look. Unless you have the clearance to push the grates to vertical, grates must be held up with one hand while cleaning with the other hand or they must be removed.

Not what I was expecting

We purchased a new house and it came with this cook top converted to propane. I am not happy with it. We have had it adjusted 3 times already and it does not cook consistently. 3 of the burners are for cooking and one is for simmering, or so I was told. The 3 cooking burners run very hot on the low setting and do not work well with smaller pans/pots. The grate does lift easily for cleaning which is nice but over all at this time I would not go with this cook top again. It very well could be that it has not been adjusted correctly or was not installed correctly, but the fact that one burned is not supposed to be used for cooking does not sit well with me.

We got this cooktop in our new house. The burners light up easily every time and do a great job. I really love how easy it is to lift up the grated for cleaning. My only hang up is that I wish one of the larger burners were in the front to make stirring large pots easier.

I like the looks of this stovetop but it is not easy to clean. The light weight stainless steel streaks easily. The heavy cast iron grate bars have to be individually cleaned. I was very disappointed that one of the burners arrived with peeling paint. What do I do about that!? Other than cleaning and peeling paint, the unit works fine.

Right after I had this installed I had to call for service. After a horrid phone tree and wait to speak to someone, I must say they took care of getting service for me right away. I wish the controls were by the side. Seems being in front they get dirty way faster and a pain to clean.

I have an identical cooktop without the hinges and I don't think Whirlpool ever set any pots or pans on it. It was part of an appliance package I got with a new home and the burners are so close together that if you put a 10 inch frying pan on one of the back burners there isn't enough room for a small pot or medium size pot on one of the front burners. So much for being able to host a decent size dinner for the family. I wish I was able to give this a lower rating than one star because it's not much good for anything when a pot is only halfway on the burner.

We are happy with the stove top. Easy to clean and keep it looking good. The hinge grates are an awesome feature. Unfortunately for us the clearance above the stove top is not enough to extend the grates to the full upright position. We will need to use something as a simple support (similar to the hood of a car). Maybe it should come with an option like that.

The cook top was just fine and one of burners were non functional. They were bought new but still showed some problems. The EZ-2-LIFT Hinged Cast-Iron Grates are very brittle and broke during cleaning.

Missing parts

Just purchased this last week. And was missing the burner caps. Called in on Saturday spent more then an 1hr on the phone getting transferred from one person to another. Once I did talk to some on I was told items would be shipped out 2nd day. So I waited till Wednesday and still no delivery. So I call back again to ask if I can get info of when my parts are coming in but they said they can't give me tracking info. So now I probably will have to spend my time calling back again. I can't review on if the product work since I can't use it without the burner caps.

Extremely bad designed product. The metal bars are made to be put at a height where the flame takes much time to reach. This is a big flaw and results into wastage of so much gas. Also, both the high flame units are placed at rear. I doubt this must have been made with no sense by Whirlpool

After a long wait of almost 9 months and looking for the right contractor, we finally installed our gas cooktop and it's been great. Very eye catching and nice to look at. One draw back is that it's hard to place 2 large pots on it at the same time due to its size (30 inches). An extra 2 inches I believe would help with that problem. But all in all I love it!

Pots wobble on rack regardless of size or position. Racks are hard to clean. Burner size never seem to be right for my pots. Small ones take forever to boil water, big ones burn everything on the side of the pot. Not my favorite.

Poor Quality

We had a new kitchen installed and purchased this cooktop among other appliances. Although the knobs on the front indicate high medium and low, the flame for the gas does not change much. You can't cook anything at a low rate. The flame does not lower hardly at all when you go to medium or low on the knob. What makes this whole experience worse, is when I wrote to Whirlpool on line and filled out all the information about my problem, I received a form letter that amounted to sorry your not eligible for any assistance. I would never buy a whirlpool product again. Very disappointed and stuck with a product that does not work properly. Gina Romancheck

Knobs are cheaply made,horrible instructions

Overall this cooktop is alright, the larger burners are in the back, which makes no sense. The installation directions were impossible even for the certified installer from our gas company, I have a large 14 inch skillet and was using it on the front burner this caused the coating on the knob to begin to come off. (I thight they were stainless steel, but it is just s flimsy silver coating.

Unhappy consumer

This cooktop was installed in our new home. I'm not making very many meals due to the fact I do not like cooking on this cooktop or cleaning it.. The burners are too close together, the grates are too large and too high. My cabinets heat up along with the microwave which is installed above the cooktop. I have to clean under the cooktop grates each time I cook since small particles of salt or seasonings and food drips fall through. I don't like to have to feel like I'm working under the hood of a car to clean this cooktop it is very hard to clean plus the finish always streaks! Can't clean the grease off of the finish. In the past I have purchase both electric and gas ranges. I won't be keeping this unit!!! I REALLY DON"T LIKE THIS COOKTOP AT ALL!

very little control over the flame

This is my second gas cooktop. I love that the controls are in front that the grate is continuous from burner to burner but, what is very frustrating is that there appears to be only two temps for cooking - high and not so high. I guess I'm going to have to have a professional come in and adjust the flame so that I can have a real low flame if I want to just warm something up.
