Happy Quiet Machine

We replaced a new, clearly defective, GE set with this Maytag set. We were so happy we did!!! These machines are quiet and it seems the cycle times are shorter than other units we have owned in the past which is helping reduce our electric spend!

The end of cycle alert sound is so soft as to be useless. It can barely be heard when you're standing in front of it no matter which of the three selections related to it's volume is chosen. I'm not sure if I need a service call or this is just how bad the design is.

Like buying a car without wheels!

There are some things that you expect as standard equipment when you make a purchase. For example, a car is expected to have wheels. When you purchase a dryer, there is an expectation that there is a light INSIDE the drum - every dryer we've ever owned has had one (and we're in our 60's so we've had several- from entry level to top of the line!). This dryer DOESN'T!!!! The sales folks in most stores today don't know their merchandise. Ours told us all dryers had lights and we believed them - why wouldn't we, lights in dryer are like wheels on a car, right??? WRONG!!! At least when you get this Maytag dryer. I can't understand why it doesn't other than the manufacturer cheaper out figuring no one will notice until it's delivered and too late. In today's technology world it can be that much of a cost to add a LED light but they didn't - so we now have to search for those matching socks in the dark cave that is our unlit dryer drum. It sucks - and buyer beware!

I bought this dryer, along with the matching washer, for my new house. Very pleased with the dryer as it has all the features and cycles I wanted for a great price. I especially like the steam refresh cycle which works great for taking wrinkles out of large items such as tablecloths. Controls are intuitive and very easy to use as is the lint filter. Very happy with this dryer!

I've only been using this dryer for a 1 1/2 since taking delivery because of the color. They took a few weeks for the order. So far, I'm pleased that it seems to be working fine. This pair was purchased to replace a brand name duo that gave me several service issues which were very disappointing. I wanted to buy appliances this time that were American made. We were upgrading our washer and dryer and bought the Maytag - Front Load dryer with a pedestal to go with our matching washer. Besides the reputation of Maytag and good internet reviews such as very efficient and quite, it was the features that sold me. The reversible door allowed it open the other way and the position of the controls are the little things that makes a big difference. Our old dryer always had stuff on top making it difficult to reach around to the controls and the door open in a way that we would have to go around the door to just transfer the clothes from washer and dry. This dry with the pedestal was the answer. I now realize how difficult laundry was and that it did not have to be. Thanks Maytag!

I selected this dryer because it had a great look and it had all the features I need, where some others were more expensive because the had settings that I would never use. Also, having spoken to an appliance repair person who I trust, he advised me that Maytag would be the best choice because of their reliability and relative ease of repair if necessary. Very happy so far. One thing I wish was better is the chime when the cycle ends. It has 3 volume settings but even the highest setting is not loud enough to hear unless you are I'm very close proximity.

Too complicated--poor operating instructions

The dryer looks great; however, operating it is difficult. Once you realize you need to print the manual to understand it, you find that the manual instructions are not very clear. You could eliminate half the options and it would be just as functional and more user friendly. Also, one of the features I really wanted was a cycle signal. The signal is so low (at maximum volume) that unless you are in the laundry room you cannot hear it. I work in an office across the hall from the laundry room and can't hear it.

I bought this a month ago and use it almost daily. There are 4 adults in the house that use it regularly. I have always purchased Maytag washers and dryers as my mother always said they were the best and I tend to agree. The only issue I have with this dryer is that there are times when we have to run the dryer a couple cylcles to get the clothes dry. We have tried different settings as my husband checked the manual and it said to turn the "steam" setting off which we did but the clothes still aren't always as dry as I would like them and so I gave it a 3 for that reason.

Waiting on a repair technician

We bought this product after upgrading from the Maytag that we had for 15 years. We went with another Maytag because we never had a problem with the other. It recently started getting really loud and would shut off after 7 minutes into a cycle. It would also not heat on certain settings. Hopefully it can be fixed and we will have no more problems.

This dryer has performed very well, though there are two items I would recommend that future models could use: an inside light, and louder alarm that the dryer has finished. It's disappointing that your clothes could wrinkle because you could not hear the signal that the dryer has finished.

It is a little deeper than my old Maytag so I will need to put a wider shelf above it to allow better access. One negative is the volume of the end of cycle signal - it's way too quiet!

I have had my new dryer for a month now and am very pleased with how easy it is to program. Just set the dial for the type of load you wish to dry and start the dryer. When the dryer is finished I have been pleased with the results: towels nice and dry and warm to fold, clothes dry and fluffy ready to hang up or fold.

We purchased this maytag dryer about a month ago. It is very well made, efficient, quiet. I recommend not stacking it, the angle of the controls make it hard to see the selections on top unless you are tall. I'm 5'6 and can't see the top settings on my stacked dryer. Also, wish it had a light when you open the door.

I purchased the dryer 4 months ago and overall am pleased except for one thing- There is a loud drumming sound when the dryer starts and it comes and goes throughout the cycles . I called the service number and had a "certified Maytag service " come to the house to service the dryer. It is not balanced according to the service person. . The noise is still there - and not sure if it can be fixed. Just be aware of the noise.
