KA KN256CDH: So Far, So Good

After immediately receiving this item for my Pro 600, I tested it on my Pro 600. It worked flawlessly inside my bowl, and I do not need any bowl adjustments to accommodate it. (Note: My KA Artisan 5 quart tilt-head stand mixer came with 2 coated items, so I didn't have to purchase them separately.) I bought this coated item because my Pro 600 came with its burnished counterpart that flakes off metallic bits, and this nylon coated version supposedly remedies this and also allows buyers to pop them in their dishwashers. In general, on KA internet forums and on most resellers' sites for this item, there are negative reviews on this more newly-manufactured coated item, while their older coated version has lasted for decades. This may be due to KA's now outsourcing of their items to countries like India, which make KA's current 'stainless steel' bowls, for example, that flake metal bits. (Note: stainless steel doesn't flake). With these current coated attachment items, Indian (or other) overseas outsourcing may also be causing common chipping problems, some of which occur during their first use, while others chip after 1 year. Any chipping at all is unacceptable. When I was researching these issues, I went back and forth about wanting to buy any product with chipping (or any other problem). This item is an integral attachment to all KA stand mixers, and as such, it must have outstanding quality – with no manufacturing issues. In the end, I attacked this as I would a card game: maybe I would have luck and win (no chipping); maybe I wouldn't have luck and lose (chipping). With these important items on sale and one reseller also with coupons for more reductions, my items may be OK. If they chip, they will be slightly better than the burnished, uncoated metal with flaking pieces that my Pro 600 came with. I trust that KA will correct its manufacturing issues, so today, I give it 4-5 stars on this item, hoping that this item has no problems.
