very disappointed, horrible design

Doors are awful and have never worked. The first fridge had a gap between the seal of the right door and the fridge so that when the doors were closed, cold air escaped. After >6 months of having multiple techs out to try to fix the problem and not being able to , and many angry conversations with the warranty team, Kitchen Aid agreed to send us a new fridge, on warranty. This then voided our warranty and the new fridge is worse (and now has no warranty). Every time we close the left door, the right one pops open an inch and stays open. This is extremely frustrating as every time our children close the door it gets left open and air escapes. Again, we have had 3 techs out to try to fix this problem and no one can. I'm sure this will reduce the lifespan of our fridge dramatically given the extra work on the motor every time the door is left partially open, and is also such a waste of energy. I would never buy this fridge again as there is clearly a flaw with the door system. What a waste of $10,000.

Fits the Hole in my wall

I replaced an older Sub-Zero fridge, and this unit fit in my cabinet hole perfectly. For the price, this is a great built in fridge. It holds a temperature, and the limited inside space is organized reasonably. However, for the price I would wish that it would include other small features like a door alarm.

Only had it for 2 weeks but everything is going well. I do like the shelving and lighting compared to our side by side that we replaced with the french door style. Getting used to the ice being on the bottom. I do think that the price is very high as it offers the same features as a non built in style.

Poor Quality...Regret Buying a KitchenAid!

We purchased this model a little over two years ago and thankfully, we purchased an extended warranty. We have nearly 10 service calls due to faulty doors. The springs on both doors keep popping and the doors do not close properly. Each time the technician comes out to assess the problem, he has to order parts and then he has to make an additional appointment to come and install the new parts. After the problems are fixed, they occur again within a short period of time. I truly regret this purchase and at this point, I cannot believe that KitchenAid has not offered to replace this for us. The numerous service calls and parts ordered under this warranty have to be noticed by somebody at KitchenAid. We spent almost 10k on this lemon and it was a waste. If you are considering this fridge, please keep shopping.

It's a beautiful refrigerator, and the platinum interior is elegant. Takes a while to get used to, because it's much darker than a white interior. Hard to see bottom shelf of freezer. Higher held lit; there is no light at the bottom level. Less capacity than previous built-on. Bought extra door shelves to increase capacity.

Poor quality with a high price tag

We have had our KitchenAid KBFN506 refrigerator now for two year and are about to spent $1000 to try and get it functioning properly. Since we bought it, the doors have not closed properly and three tech visits while it was under warranty could remedy the issue. Now we have a tech we selected who found the broken spring connector, so maybe after spending another $1000, the door will shut properly. I hate this refrigerator. It was very expensive but doesn't work as well as the Samsung that my daughter bought for about 15% of what I paid. Avoid this refrigerator!!!

Great Product, I would change a few things though.

I have been waiting to replace my old bottom mount single door K/A built-in for several years as I was waiting for the 36" wide french door model to arrive. So far it has been a good product, runs very quiet with no issues. Here are a few things I would recommend for changes or improvements: 1) The left side door when allowed to close on its own slams way too hard. I realize it needs a little boost to actuate the sealing plate between the doors, but this is a lot. The items in the door shelves bounce around and sound like they are going to break sometimes due the door closing speed. Some type of slow close dampener would be nice. 2) The freezer door takes what I think is an excessive amount of opening force to overcome the seals, once it has unsealed itself the door opens the rest of the way very easily. I could see where this would be a bigger issue with the elderly or handicapped. There should be an optional foot pedal operated lever that can give some initial assist when opening the freezer. 3) There is no way to shut off the icemaker, the operating manual says to lift a lever which does not exist in this model. 4) The control panel display only shows the SET values of the refrigerator and freezer compartments. My old unit showed the ACTUALl temperatures as well as the setpoints. I had to purchase a pair of thermometers for the two compartments to have the peace of mind of knowing that they are always at the proper temperature. 5) This is just a personal preference, but I would prefer a white interior instead of the gray. 6) There is no butter tray.

I PURCHASED THIS MODEL AND I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS REFRIGERATOR FROM DAY ONE. ON NOVEMBER 18TH 2018 I CALLED A SERVICE REPAIR TECHNICIAN FOR THE FILTER AND THEY ORDERED PARTS FOR THE HINGES ON THE DOORS. THE TECHNICIAN WAS BANGING ON THE DOORS WITH A HAMMER. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND NO KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO REPAIR THIS KIND OF REFRIGERATOR. NOT TO MENTION I PAID $8500.00 FOR THIS PRODUCT. I EXPERIENCED PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM WITH THIS REFRIGERATOR. IT SHUTS OFF UNEXPECTEDLY, NEVER FIXED THIS PROBLEM, NOW THE DOORS WON'T CLOSE AND THEY CAN NOT LOCATE THE PARTS FOR THIS REPAIR. SPOKE TO AVERY, HE ADVISED THAT IT IS THE HOMEOWNERS RESPONSIBILITY IF THE FOOD IN THE REFRIGERATOR IS SPOILED OR PERISHES. I ASKED FOR A REPLACEMENT BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A REFRIGERATOR FOR MONTHS HE SAID THAT THIS IS NOT A GOOD REASON TO REPLACE REFRIGERATOR. I CALLED AGAIN TODAY WAS GETTING THE SHUFFLE AROUND SPOKE TO TERESA, AND WAS ON HOLD FOR 1 HOUR SPOKE TO AVERY WAS ON HOLD FOR 30 MINUTES AND HE HUNG UP THE PHONE JUST TO FOLLOW UP TO SEE IF PARTS WERE LOCATED STILL NOTHING I SPOKE TO MICHAEL IN THE SPECIALTY DEPARTMENT HE SAID I HAVE TO GIVE THEM 6 DAYS TO LOCATE PART, IT HAS BEEN 5 MONTHS. THEY WILL NOT LET ME SPEAK WITH SUPERVISOR. THE WORST SERVICE !!!!

I bought this several weeks ago and the refrigerator portion was not cooling at all, even though the freezer was working. The serviceman called a tech person from the manufacturer, who said a new valve that alternated the cooling from the refrigerator to the freezer would have to be ordered. The serviceman then found that something in the controls, underneath the top, just hadn't been plugged in at the factory. It doesn't seem too much to ask to have them run each refrigerator to make sure it is working properly before they ship it.

Awful experience

After our 30 year old Subzero finally died and we looked at both a Subzero and Kitchenaid. We were ready to spend $4000 more for the Subzero but in the showroom we liked the shelving arrangement in the Kitchenaid. So we paid $7500 and had the refrigerator delivered and installed. What a disappointment. The left door won't stay open when at full outward swing. Worse, the right door won't close all the way (it will stay open when at full outward swing). Right now there is a one inch gap between the door and the door frame, with cool air spilling out. Tomorrow an approved Kitchenaid technician is coming and we hope he can fix both doors. If that can't be done I want a refund so I can buy a subzero. What worries me the most is that if Kitchenaid quality control allowed this fridge to leave the factory with these obvious and visible defects, what kind of quality control can I expect from the "innards" of this machine.

can't tell the internal temperature

I bought this refrigerator a month ago, and I still can not figure out how to determine the internal temperature of the refrigerator. The manual doesn't specify this information and the sales reps (Howard's) were no help at all. The kitchenaid website also was not helpful in trying to solve, and calling during the posted service hours left my call unanswered. Really??! Have to say that I am a bit disappointed.

I just had my Kitchen Aid black stainless built in refrigerator excitedly delivered. It does look beautiful. But for the price, Kitchen aid should include a butter tray, egg tray and freezer racks.The paperwork should include what trays come with the refrigerator, no where in the paperwork or website does it list parts included. The pictures make it seem like all the trays included. See picture.
