Good Refrigerator Freezer

I bought this refrigerator/freezer a month ago to replace the same model that I had before that was 14 years old and compressor failing. I prefer a bottom freezer with the pull out drawer where I can see what's there and it's easy to get to. I am disappointed that the adjustable dividers of both freezer drawers have been replaced with dividers that cannot be moved. I miss the flexibility that was offered by my original Amana. I am also disappointed that the meat/cheese drawer that went completely across bottom of refrigerator is not a smaller drawer under one of the shelves. I like the digital temperature controls which makes it possible to see exactly what the setting for each space is.

Noisy

We replaced our old Amana with this model. Our old one was one texture. On this one, the doors are not textured. Too bad they changed it. This fridge is so noisy. I don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that the delivery guys had it laying down in their truck when they came to delivery it or not, but it is too noisy for my liking.

Not as good as its predecessor

This was a replacement for our 15 year old Amana of similar style. This one doesn't have an ice maker, no great loss. We do miss the pantry drawer. They included a little 1/2 drawer that is pretty useless and just takes up space. The shelves and drawers are not up to the quality of the old ones. Much flimsier. We are using the old ones. The door doesn't match the refrigerator either in size or finish (see attached picture). It looks like this was cobbled together from two different refrigerators. The body of the refrigerator has a rough finish that we loved. The door is smooth. And, as you can see, the door is higher than the body of the refrigerator. We also had to change the door swing from left open to right open. As you can see in the second picture there are permanent dents where the handle was. You can't see the bottom one very well but it is as deep as the top one. I watched when the change was being made by the delivery people. They did it correctly. They didn't make the dents. Finally, what genius thought they knew how we would want our freezer organized? The dividers were not adjustable. We removed them. Not easy. They had to be destroyed. The only thing inside the refrigerator that came with it is the shelf over the vegetable crisper drawer. Only because we couldn't change it out. And, by the way, there are humidity controls for the crisper drawers. Instead of putting High to Low like the older model it now has Fruit or Vegetables. Really wish we could have kept the old refrigerator.

This refrigerator is perfect for my husband and me, now empty nesters. We don't use a lot of ice, so we opted out of the ice maker. We avoid packaged foods and tend to cook from fresh ingredients every evening so the limited freezer storage is fine. There is plenty of room on the refrigerator door for milk, juice and bottles of wine. There's plenty of room for storing food when we cook for family or company. We probably could have gotten by with the 18 cubic foot model. The only downside so far is that to vacuum dust off the refrigerator coils you have to remove two screws that hold the bottom bracket to the frame. Why did they do this??

Of the top, side by side, and bottom freezer units the bottom freezer is the one I prefer. This Amana rates right up with the Sub Zero! It's quiet and has plenty of room. And they come in black!

Received my Amana 22 cu. ft. over two months ago. When it was first set up, I couldn't believe it was actually running because I could not hear it unless I was standing right next to it and I hear very well . It came with the ice maker installed; which works perfectly. The ice storage bin is huge and right there when the freezer door is opened. The freezer has two drawers to help make everything accessible. I live in Florida and yet, I had to raise the thermostat up on level because the upper refrigerator was too cold. Everything feels solid and the adjustable shelves are very adaptable. I am very pleased with this unit; and the price was very reasonable.

Angry that bisque color is no longer available. Stainless is going out and white was too scary and went with nothing. I now have a black fridge which looks like a casket. Plastic drawers are sleezy. Shelf under meat drawer no longer slides. Smoother shelves are a pleasure. Good thing I have no little kids as the drawers would be in shreads now. Price was better than I thought it would be

I bought this several months ago. I had a bottom freezer years ago and have missed it - I love it. I like the wide shelves in the fridge, the extra wide door shelves for gallon milk jugs, etc., and the meat/cheese drawer.

I love this frig. The pull out freezer has 2 pull out drawers that fits all my frozen needs. The inside of the frig has 3 drawers, spill-proof shelves and the door has deep shelves that will hold milk or juice bottles. I have it in the black finish. I love this one so much more than the side by side I had with my old one. Very good quality and lots of usable space. Would I purchase another Amama appliance? Most definitely.

Previous refrigerator/ freezer was 26 years old. Decided to get a new one before it broke so I could get one I wanted and not be stuck with what stores had. Smart thinking on my part. Having an older home is not conducive to today's appliance offerings unless major reconstruction was done to the house. We were restricted to depth and width. I did not want stainless, door filtration or automatic ice. It took over 3 weeks to find a model that would fit. The appliance store was great making calls to manufacturers. Refrigerator is 1" deeper than our space allows so we only lost a little bit of access to our kitchen door. The height left 1/2" space from bottom of cabinets no problem there. The appliance is wonderful everything that was on our shelves are now in the door bin. My shelves are pretty empty. It is very quiet appliance. I do wish the interior light was more recessed or further back but not a big deal. I would have preferred bins in the freezer instead of wire basket but again not a big deal. Having a drawer was more important. I did want a French door but none of them would fit. Manufacturers need to keep in mind that older homes and there are a lot out there can not accommodate the appliances available today. There are so few choices for us. I'm glad Amana still makes refrigerators that will fit in designated spaces of the 1960's era. Finding non side by side, smooth black, no auto ice, or water filtration was not easy. Thank you Amana .
