Bought this refrigerator in January because we needed a quiet refrigerator. This one is not quiet at all. It seems to run constantly and eventually it will drive us crazy. I would like to get rid of it, but we paid too much, so we are stuck with it. No other problems, just the noise. We like the freezer on the bottom, but wonder if that is contributing to the noise.

Board control Jazz broke 13.5 months $445 repair

I had a whirlpool fridge in a rental property, tenant wanted a nicer looking fridge. Bought the Amana because it is connected to Whirlpool and it would fit in the space. Very up set it broke just out of warranty. My big fear is, the same thing has happened to others based on reviews and in one case multiple times. I just spent $445 to repair and concerned it will continue to happen. I used a whirlpool appliance repair qualified person and hoping Amana and/or whirlpool will at least cover the $189 part.

I bought this same refrigerator 20 years ago and I wanted a new one. It was so great to see that the model still existed and had more enhanced features to make he even more excited. Deeper drawer and shelf space, with digital temperature display make this so well worth the price. Also, the side and top panels are now in grey (from black in the past) so it better blends in with my overall kitchen design! Very happy!

We bought one of these nearly twenty years ago, and were so pleased with it that we just replaced it, or so we thought. It looks pretty much the same, & works the same, but it's made of lighter-gauge, easily-dented steel, and the internal storage arrangements are not as well planned & made. Our original Amana is still working in the basement; we're thinking of bringing it back upstairs, and moving this one to storage. A big disappointment.

Design flaw

Worked great for 11 months, then ice built up behind freezer which blocked the required airflow to chill the refrigerator box. At least that is the description from the repair technician from the appliance sales firm (Seattle area, very large and well respected firm) who reported unit is "functioning as designed." Problem is, the design allows for temperature warming in refrigerator box, and unless I manually defrost the bottom freezer, I can expect this to be an ongoing problem of spoiled food and required overnight defrosts. The current temp is 43* with the cooling level set at max cooling (7). We are now past the one year warranty. Terribly disappointing and frustrating since i selected an Amana fridge as a replacement based on the excellent Amana we had from November 1990 to November 30, 2017.

Too noisy!

When it's running, this refrigerator makes an awful lot of noise. I had another Amana, very similar in design to this one, for 14 years and it ran quietly. I only bought it a week ago, so I hope the noise does not mean the motor is about to break. Also, the door swings open way too far. I also wish the dividers in the freezer could be removed to fit large, flat items. I might have to break them to remove them. On the plus side, I do like the general design of the refrigerator.

Well constructed but lacks storage capacity

We purchased this refrigerator a few months ago. Size and dimensions were a concern because of existing cabinet configuration. It appears to be solidly constructed compared to others we looked at, but storage capacity in the refirgerator section is lacking. For some strange reason the shelf supports are large and angle downward which restricts containers from being pushed to the back of the shelves and also gets in the way of stacking anything. Insuring shelf strength could have been easily solved by enclosing the glass shelves in metal rather than plastic.The temperature control, which is huge, is front and center when door is opened, obstructing use of the top shelf. This replaced a 25 yr. old top freezer Kitchenaid which was still running like a top. Wanted stainless...have regretted the decision every day since, lol.

What a disappointment. I replaced a 21 year old Amana. I thought that I would stay with the same brand. In less than a weeks ownership the freezer iced over and now will not keep things frozen. I tried to run the fridge on defrost to see if it can free the evaporator of the frost but I can't tell if it's working. I am guessing it's the defrost thermostat or timer. I will call the dealer in the morning. They are either giving me a new fridge of fix this boat anchor.

Why did I wait so long?

This replaced a 1980's top freezer. First, my electric use per day is 1/2 the units. Second, no twisting , no hidden items - things are all within reach and visible. Regular not LED bulbs but bright I use a walker and the little tilted ledge in refrigerator is perfect to place things while I arrange and sort things. The freezer is a little trickier since I was so excited I over bought and the shelves jammed but I've learned. I use a refrigerator thermometer and it stays ,after some adjusting, at a steady 38 degrees. I don't think the motor runs more than the old machine did but it sounds weird, not a melodic sound . Notice it more because of that. Have had for 6 months.

My last refrigerator lasted only 3 years and was in need of a third compressor - so this is a huge upgrade. Features I like:bottom freezer, doesn't look like an apartment fridge, comparably quiet. The lower energy consumption means that it cycles more often then the older less efficient models, but for my money I much prefer the energy savings.

Tons of room inside for a small space outside

We looked at several models at many stores. Our problem was the kitchen space was small and short. We didn't want to renovate cabinets ($$$) so salesman showed this sweet refrigerator. For 19 cu.ft it is perfect and fits all our goodies. Love it! Would highly recommend this product.

Our Amana, model like the new one we bought, died after 15+ years. The interior is much like the old one and as we were very satisfied with the old one, I bought sight unseen because I needed a frig and didn't have time to go shopping. The frig is nice looking and has good storage inside. The door closes with too much force. My biggest complaint is that it is noisy. I don't notice it all the time, but during certain cycles, the noise is annoying.

I absolutely LOVE my new Fridge! I had one exactly like this for 12 years when I owned a house and when I moved to my new apartment, I figured I could never have one like this again! I was so wrong!! The split shelves are so versatile! Hot air rises so it makes more sense to have the fridge on top and freezer below. Also, I am more into the fridge than the freezer on a daily basis, right? Everything at eye height.

very good refridgerator, and bottom freezer. gets cold very quick on perferred cold settings. Wish the freezer could hold more, but being a 19 cu ft it holds alot. wouldve opted for more cubic ft but living on 3rd floor aptartment thats all we could fit up the stairs. We bought this refrigerator about 6 weeks ago. I really wanted a bottom freezer because my daughter had one and I loved it. A top freezer section made no sense to me. My husband is not open to change so I did not even mention a bottom freezer when we had to replace our old refrigerator. We have a permanent spot for the refrigerator that limits the size we can get. We were having trouble finding one that would fit and he liked. I did open the bottom freezer for me to look at. Finally he came to look at what I was so interested in, saw that it would be easer for him to use since he is elderly. That did it. HE LOVES IT! My only complaint is ice cube use and storage is not handy.

Love my new bottom freezer

Had to raise my above cabinet but was so worth it. I have a place in the frig for everything and room to spare. So much easier getting things in and out at this height with my arthritic hands! Freezer drawer holds enough food for a month too. I will never go back to a top freezer again. Love the Amana product. It's quiet too. Only thing I wish it had was self closing door.

Excellent Refrigerator

Finally I can see what's in my fridge--even way at the back. Same for the cheese/meat drawer and the produce bins. Having the freezer on the bottom is great, too--room for everything we need and the easy slide out drawers make it all very convenient. The best refrigerator I have ever had, and I've owned many, including much more expensive brands and models.

New, replacement refrigerator

Replaced our old Amana with this new model. its basically the carbon copy of our old one. Even the shelving inside is interchangeable. I don't like the front door smooth paint finish. It shows all the finger prints. The old unit had the mat finish. We are hoping it lasts more then 10 years, our old one only lasted 10 & when it broke we lost all our food, $300.00 worth of food. Amana should offer a repair policy that lasts longer then 5 years.

This model is similar to the Amana I have had for the past 15 years. The only differences are that there is no longer an individual shelf in the freezer for ice cube trays so that means the trays have to lay flat in a drawer and take up much needed space. Also the dividers that are pre-installed for the freezer drawers are very difficult to remove and reset for individual likes/needs. Would have preferred this model to be more like the last one in appearance (not crazy bout the clunky door handles) and functionality. But hey, it is new and it works, so that is what is really important, right?

No more bending and hurting knees

Over the age of 65 and 6 feet tall. So thrilled to no longer have to get down on the knees to retrieve items from bottom shelves. Freezer on bottom pulls out and is so much easier. Only suggestions is to make divider on bottom drawer removable. Some frozen boxed items must be removed from box to fit in the space.

This is by far the best refrigerator ever. Large enough to hold everything and I love the bottom freezer. Glad we made the purchase!

Love the freezer bins

I had an old top freezer that finally died. I searched on Consumer Reports for a replacement and ended up with this Amana. I am very pleased with this. Some concerns others had with the bottom freezer (too small, no room for ice cubes, etc) are not an issue with this model. It accounts for those things with the bin arrangement and I have more than enough room for everything.
